If the Democrats play their cards better, they will gain many political seats in 2012. But, be warned, not all Democrats are "true" Democrats.
President Jimmy Carter was taken to the woodshed in the 1980 Presidential election when registered Democrats voted for Reagan and re-elected him in 1984. George Bush, Sr. also received support from "Reagan's Democrats" and now many of them voted for the Tea Party candidates in 2010.
Not to be outdone, even elected officials that call themselves Democrats don't support President Obama or the Democratic philosophy but are more deeply aligned with the Tea Party "idiot-ology"; chiefly, Ben Nelson.
Reagan Democrats continue to permeate the party of Franklin Roosevelt and vote for the Tea Party, all the while upsetting the balance of politics. The way to prevent a second wave of Tea Party buffoonery infecting the Republic is for Democrats and Progressives alike to register and vote just like we did in 2008.
Not to push the "Diddy" doom button that says, "if you don't vote you'll die"; but I would say that if you don't vote then the weak, weary and woefully unqualified will be elected by default because your thinking is jaded if you think that voting is a waste of time. In essence, you'll get exactly what you deserve.
